Volume57 is a unique collective of international performers - actors, dancers, musicians and vagabonds - dedicated to the promotion of outstanding, independent performing artists. Created by us, the artists, Volume57 is a product of our disparate thoughts, concepts and experiences within our respective disciplines, distilled through radical eyes and ears, bound together by our mutual commitment to innovation and excellence in the arts. We are not a talent agency, but we work closely with agents, producers, casting directors, and film and theatrical directors. Volume57 provides each of us a virtual platform to share our original material and to showcase our talents.

We invite you to explore our extremely user-friendly website and discover who we are. Take a look at the movie clips and listen to the sound files. We're sure that you'll find them very entertaining. If you have any questions, we will be happy to answer them. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you in the real world.

Poem by Jasmin Hermann, translated from German by Douglas Graham

When a human being has seen many places

that are home to war and to love,
through the ages,

the dust of his travels settles on his face,
becoming sediment.

On rare occasions, the ones we all work for,
the camera encounters such a face,
and it's not the skin we see, it's the bones,
the dregs of loss, the having-been-there,
infallible like water and stone,
and we see our own long-forgotten face
through this face,

and cinema is no longer cinema
it's a place,

a shoe abandoned by the wayside,
a house without a roof,

a point
where the bird hunts down the rabbit
and secrets cast their shadows.

In the rarest of cases
the camera finds such a face, her face,
and we sit in amazement,
both fascinated and fearful,
of how far she has gone
and how far she will go.

Because all this is just a beginning.
